| As previously mentioned, the comfort of a high quality sofa
or chair comes mainly from the seat springs. Although different cushion
fillings will affect the way they sit, cushions are primarily there to supply
posture support. We have selected what we believe are the best filling materials
to provide this support and at the same time allow the springs to do their
job. However, some filings take more maintenance than others, so below is
a brief description of each. Duck Feather and Down - This is the best filling for molding around you and giving you posture support. Even if you decide on a different filling for the seat interiors, we strongly recommend that you have this filling in the back cushions for optimum support. We use a mixture of Duck feathers and Duck Down for extra softness. Because you 'sit in' feathers, rather than on them, they let the springs perform perfectly. However, in order to keep their loft, feathers need plumping daily. If plumped daily, they will give years of satisfaction. Hollofibre - Hollofibre is a man-made fibre that will again give excellent posture support. It does not have quite the molding properties of feathers and therefore you will tend to sit more 'on it' than 'in it'. Because of this you will sit slightly firmer and higher on Hollofibre then feather. This filling should be turned regularly for maximum life. Sprinkled Feather - This is a mixture of Hollofibre and feathers. Because of the feathers this filling sits softer than Hollofibre but firmer than Feather and Down. It should again be turned regularly. We give a five year guarantee on the above which are our standard fillings. Although we can supply other fillings on request, we do not think that they will give you the same support or comfort as the above on top of the quality spring units that we use. |
